I used to work in a large, mostly concrete building. There is a covered walkway to the door, but most of the time it doesn’t provide much relief from the heat. When it is raining, it is usually windy, so not much help there either. What the breezeway does provide, is striking interplay between light and shadow. The sun creates interesting patterns through the leaves of the potted trees. The chaotic shapes created by the natural leaves contrasts against the strong geometric human created structures.
